Facing Facebook: Embracing Web 2.0 Technologies
Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, YouTube, Wiki, Blog, IM… Do these words sound completely foreign or do you find them frightening? The internet is becoming an interactive, collaborative space with limitless opportunities and dangers – are you keeping up? This course is designed for anyone who has ever wondered what their kids are doing online for hours or for anyone who is just interested in learning about the newest collaborative technologies. Examine and discuss popular social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace), wikis, blogs, IM, media networking sites (YouTube, Flickr) and anything else you bring to the discussion. We will look at what’s appealing about them and what you should know as a teacher, user or a parent.
